Picture a Day #233 – In Search of a Color

The other day, as I was organizing my art materials, I thought of an idea for a children’s picture book. I haven’t attempted anything in this genre in a very long time. I would love to be able to write and illustrate a book. It is a dream of mine that until this week has largely been in the dreaming stages.

So I sat right down and began to type. A page and a half of text later, I began to see the illustrations that would go along with it. The next day, I added and revised, and now I have a story about a girl who discovers a new color.

Next I began an illustration. How do you create a color that doesn’t exist? Still working on that one. Here is a link to The Write Stuff for anyone in search of children’s writing inspiration. And now for today’s picture:

This is a detail from a recent project. Wouldn’t it be amazing to find another color in the rainbow? Where would it fall on the spectrum?
